Exquisite Corpse on screen

I won’t lie too you, I can’t even
believe that I’m writing this article, but it’s happening. One of the most
deranged books that I have ever read will soon be on the silver screen; Poppy Z
Brite’s EXQUISITE CORPSE.

For those of you who have not had
the pleasure of reading this warped and twisted masterpiece, it revolves around
two homosexual serial killers who live in New Orleans, and after meeting they
both fall in love with the same Vietnamese boy. And that’s probably all I can
say about details without driving some of our readers away!

Simon Rumley, whose last work
involved THE LIVING AND THE DEAD, which had special jury mention at the
Sitges Film Festival,
will be the one optioning the book and promises to deliver with as much shock as
Brite did in the novel.

“Similar to The
Living and The Dead I intend to make a film which appeals to and repulses
arthouse and horror audiences alike. I’ll be challenging the horror fans
especially to sit through some serious gay sex for the reward of some
uncompromisingly bloody bodily dissection. To horror fans everywhere, I say try
anal if you’re hard enough.”
says Rumley
about the film.

This project sounds great, and if
you’ve read AMERICAN PSYCHO by Brett Easton Ellis and enjoyed it, I’m sure that
this film will be right up your alley.
