Halo iced

Yes, that’s my lame attempt at ice.

More bad news for fans of the HALO. First Fox and Uni bailed on the pic amid rumours of an overblown budget, and now Jackson has confirmed that the film has been put on ice for the time being.

In a press release issued today by WingNut Films, Jackson and company “deeply regret” that Universal and Fox didn’t move forward with financing, which was reported to be at or around $128 million after the rebate from shooting in New Zealand. As such, the film was postponed “until [Microsoft and WingNut] can fulfill the promise [they] made to fans“.

The statement also reiterated the support that Jackson has of director Neill Blomkamp, calling him a “tremendously gifted filmmaker“, even though HALO would be Blomkamp’s feature film debut. The movie is still set for a 2008 release, though no telling when the film would be heading to theatres.
