Zombie has recently sat down with the teeny-boppers at MTV and completely
spilled the beans about him writing/directing the new HALLOWEEN remake. Zombie
had tons to say about the upcoming “remake” which he feels is not really a
remake, but a different perspective on the same story.
“I want the lead character to be Michael Myers,”
Zombie said. “He’s not just a faceless thing floating around in the background
and then you focus on these girls. I feel that that’s where you can make it
different and that’s where you can make it more intense.”
Zombie
also went on to say that Dr. Loomis, the child psychiatrist with the six shooter
that shoots seven times, will play a more prominent role in the film.
Furthermore Zombie wanted to make it clear that this was not a clear-cut sequel.
This would simply be a different take on a classic film. (ie Like Carpenter’s
take on THE THING)
“I think a lot of the sequels didn’t work because they
were just sort of doing an imitation of that movie, and you can’t do that,”
Zombie said. “You have to come from a genuine place of inspiration with what you
want to do.” Zombie said when asked about how much he’ll change and keep
from the original.
That’s
great news for me to hear because this constant regurgitating of old horror
