For those pumped to see SAW III on Friday, Lionsgate will have an extra bonus it seems: the first trailer to HOSTEL: PART II!
The trailer in question will actually debut tonight on MTV, but unlike other English trailers, this one is in German. Why? According to Lionsgate’s co-prexy of marketing in Tim Palen, the German language is “more guttural and harsh, [and] I think a lot of people will be taken aback, but with the success of the first HOSTEL there will be no confusion as to whether the movie is in English.“
Now before you say that Lionsgate is being insensitive to Germans, think about this: put on a Rammstein song, and listen to the lyrics, then find the translation. Or if you want, track down Tim Allen’s standup routine discussing German and the word for ‘butterfly’. Regardless, it is kind of a cool idea. Look for the trailer to hit online sometime soon.
