Horror ninja, and the man behind this year’s New Vision Jury award at SITGES for EDMOND, Stuart Gordon, has just signed on to direct a new thriller called STUCK, from writer John Strysik (who also wrote TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE).
What makes this project so awesome is that it’s supposedly based on a true story, and it’s seriously f*cked up. Check it: “Stuck” introduces us to Brandi Helper, a young and compassionate caregiver at a retirement home whose life is turn upside down when she accidentally hits Tom Bardo, a homeless man. With the terribly injured Tom stuck in the windshield of her car, Brandi drives home and parks the car in her garage. Although she promises to take him to an emergency room, Brandi realizes that she will destroy her own future if she does so. Instead she decides to wait for Tom to die, so she and her boyfriend Rashid can dispose of the body. When Tom realizes this, he knows that his only chance of survival is to find a way to escape.
What a great idea for a movie! And the fact that it actually happened- can you believe it? What a cracked out world we live in… Anyway, Gordon’s the man at this type of thing, as his vision for horror tends to be more psychological and subtle- which sounds like exactly what’s going on here. Cool beans.
Principal photography is set to begin next Monday, October 30th, in and around New Brunswick, Canada. No word on casting just yet, but with EDMOND rockin’ a fine cast of big names, I can only guess who’ll want to join him on this ride.
