The other day, new dude Scott reported on director Jake West and his interview on the new PUMPKINHEAD sequel. Today, the boys (and girls) and DreadCentral sent over word on their little get together with Lance Henriksen, star of the original film, and reprising his role in the upcoming sequels (in ghost form, no less).
In the interview, Lance talks about his character (obviously), and how the role is more than ‘just a ghost’. “You don’t really play a ghost you know; there are a lot of things to play when you’re playing a ghost but it’s more about warning somebody. It’s a good ghost; he’s the morality warning of the film.”
Elsewhere, Henriksen talked about his thoughts on the first sequel (which was also turned into an old DOS video game, for some reason), and reiterated what many fans thought of it. “[BLOOD WINGS] was the worst, it was terrible. I was in Milan for HARD TARGET and this guy at the hotel came running down and said, ‘I have a script for PUMPKINHEAD 2, I want you to do it’! So I read it and said, ‘No I can’t’. It was a terrible script so I said I’m sorry, as much as I’d like to do it I won’t. He went and did it anyway and it was awful. Nobody ever saw it. But [directors Jake West and Mike Hurst] had much better ideas.”
Good for you, Lance! You know a sequel stinks when an actor such as Henriksen won’t reprise his role, on account of the script stinking worse than a *censored for sensitive minds*. To read the entire article, which includes Lance’s thoughts on using CG for the sequels, smack it.
