Gears stopped

Like DEAD RISING before it, GEARS OF WAR has been hit by Germany.

According to Gamespot the Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle (USK) (the German equivilent to the ESRB or MPAA in North America) has refused classification for Microsoft’s upcoming shooter, presumably due to the game’s violent content. Because of this, Microsoft has decided to not release the game in Germany, in accordance with Microsoft’s own policy on unrated games. While this bodes bad news for German fans, it does leave the rest of the world with a bloody good time.

It’s still unclear if German fans have been left out in the cold entirely, as they could go the same route as we’ve all done before: imports. Granted, there’s the issue of region lockouts, but gamers are always a resourceful bunch.

GEARS OF WAR hits store shelves November 7th, and centres on protagonist Marcus Fenix (and his assault rifle/chainsaw gun) and his band of soldiers in the conflict between the human inhabitants of planet Sera fighting a subterranean enemy known as the Locust Horde. Expect heads and plasma to fly freely. Click here for the game’s kickass website.
