There are a few things that are ‘hot’ right now: horror movies and comic book adaptations. So when there’s an opportunity to combine them both, you pretty much have cinematic gold. HELLBOY and CONSTANTINE are just a couple of examples on how the combination can work and turn out awesome.
That said, The Hollywood Reporter announced this morning that genre friendly Rogue Pictures has swooped up on the yet-to-be-released vampire comic BLOOD ON THE TRACKS, with Neill Dela Llana and Ian Gamazon (CAVITE) set to write and direct. Since it hasn’t been released yet, it’s hard not to think of Renny Harlin’s THE COVENANT, which had it’s comic released about the same time the movie came out. Let’s hope BLOOD is better than that…
So what’s this vampire shindig all about? [BLOOD ON THE TRACKS] revolves around a series of killings in the New York subway system. While at first it is thought to be the work of a serial killer, it later is revealed that the murders are the work of a vampire who has been living in the tunnels of the city from the days when it was still New Amsterdam.
Nice! Perfect idea for a movie, if you ask me. Vampires are always fun, and when they’re set in modern day, in a gritty setting like the New York subway system… man, if they can pull this off, it’ll be one wild ride!
No word on when the vampire fun will start, but stay tuned, as more info. on BLOOD ON THE TRACKS continues to surface!
