The Hollywood Reporter dropped today that Paramount Vantage has picked up scripter Dan Kay’s adaptation of the horror short story DETAILS. Actually the short story is from British fantasy author China Mieville (sorry, he’s a him), but check out the concept and the horror shouldn’t be too hard to see.
“Details” revolves around a girl who disappears after having uncovered a demonic force that only she can see and her father, who stops at nothing to bring her back.
Certainly has some promise. Demonic forces usually make for a good time. There’s no question that exec VP Amy Israel is certainly high on it – “‘Details’ is exactly the kind of smart, high-concept horror film we’ve been looking for.
Uh-oh. That sounds an awful lot to me like the subtext is, we’re making a PG-13 teenybopper cashfest…now get me that 7TH HEAVEN chick. No not Biel, the one that looks like a Gelfling! Hopefully I’m wrong, but it’s hard not to be cynical these days.
