Variety announced the very first casting news today for 20th Century Fox’s sequel to the shitfest that was ALIEN VS PREDATOR, and while it’s nothing to speem over, I’d say they could’ve done a whole hell of a lot worse.
Reiko Aylesworth (TV’s 24, right) and Steven Pasquale (TV’s RESCUE ME, below) have been cast as the two main leads in ALIEN VS PREDATOR: SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST, which begins filming next week in Vancouver, BC. Honestly, I don’t really know these two, but they sure have the look to fit the part, and as we’re tuning in to see Alien and Predator and not the people stuck in the middle… as long as they can pull it off to be somewhat believable, I think we’ll be ok.
Directed by Greg and Colin Strause and written by Shane Salerno, who’s the same dude who wrote ARMAGEDDON, Fox is hoping to somewhat redeem themselves for Paul W.S. Anderson’s first effort, which blew serious monkey balls. With a sweet premise featuring the two badasses battling it out in your everyday American town, I’d say this one is sounding way better than its predecessor. Let’s just hope it doesn’t disappoint.
Stick around for even more casting news as we hear it, and prepare for the next battle in theaters December 10th, 2007.
