Well this is just a kick in the pants! One of my favorite films of all time, TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY, has just been picked up as a TV-related pilot for Fox! And when I say related, I mean spin-off, as it’s called THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, which tells the story of what happened to buff & sexy, yet a little loco, Sarah Connor after the credits rolled in T2. Color me excited!
The pilot’s to be directed by David Nutter, who directed other TV pilot’s for shows like SMALLVILLE and SUPERNATURAL, and will be executive produced by Andy Vajna and Mario Kassar (who produced T2 & T3). Since it was just green lit, casting has just started (so no Sarah Connor has been cast yet), and they’re hoping to start filming early next year in New Mexico.
The show basically explores the aftermath of T2, with Sarah and John Connor on the run, and all the crazy shite they do in preparing for August 29th, 1997 (the nuclear war that started the war between man and the machines).
Crazy that this was announced 9 years later to the day… and very, very cool. I can’t wait! With TV improving, and budgets for these shows escalating, I can see this turning into one of the cooler shows out there. I can’t wait! Stick around for more, as casting news is sure to break in the next few weeks!
