While the signatures aren’t quite signed on the dotted line, the negotiations have begun for the casting of Eli Roth’s HOSTEL 2. So who’s up for the roles of the three women on a European vacation who’s ‘luck’ brings them to a hostel in Slovakia? Lauren German, Heather Matarazzo and Bijou Phillips, that’s who!
German’s best known for her role as the hitchhiker who blew her brains out in the remake of TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, Matarazzo had a role in both THE PRINCESS DIARIES movies (yeah… they actually made more than one!), and Phillips will always be known as that chick who got what was coming to her in last year’s slasher fest VENOM. Of course, everyone in that movie died by the end, so that’s not really saying much, but still…
Here’s the quick synopsis and the roles these women will be playing….This time, the story follows three women who, while studying abroad for the summer, learn the grim truth behind the Slovakian hostel and its international counterparts. German would play a wealthy girl trying to figure out her next step in life, Phillips would be her best friend and Matarazzo will be a tag-along.
In a way, the casting here is very fitting: German, who rocked in TCM deserves a chance to live the be the hero, while Matarazzo should die for her roles in PRINCESS, and since Philips did such a good job getting slaughtered in VENOM, why not do it again? Perfect! That is, of course, if Roth decides to slice and dice it that way- maybe he has something tricky up his sleeve and plans on switching it up a bit… but I doubt it. HOSTEL 2 is looking to be released sometime next year.
