It’s always a crying shame when casting doesn’t work out due to something as silly as scheduling conflicts, but as is the case with the upcoming Stephen King adaptation of 1408, starring John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson. it was reported that hottie Kate Walsh was to play Cusack’s smokin’ ex-wife in the film, but due to conflicts with her show ‘Grey’s Anatomy’…. well, she’s out the movie for good.
So the upside here? They’ve replaced her with Mary McCormack, who I’ll always remember as Howard Stern’s wife in PRIVATE PARTS, and while she’s no Walsh, she is a babe who will do a kick ass job in the role. Er, at least I she does a … but when you’re working along side such great actors as Cusack and Jackson, it’s hard to believe could do a bad job.
Directed by Mikael Hafstrom, who also directed the highly unrated DERAILED, 1408 is . The story’s great if you haven’t checked it out yet (it’s a short in ‘Everything’s Eventual’), and with the cast looking the way it does… I smell the King adaptation we’ve all been waiting for. And we’ll have to wait a while too, as the film is not scheduled to start filming until of next year… so we’re most likely looking at a late 2007, early 2008 release. But I have a feeling, it’ll be worth the wait.
