The crazy cats over at The Film Asylum caught up with director Craig McMahon recently and posted a cool interview with the mind behind MACHINED and the upcoming SPORTKILL. I was especially psyched to get a little more info on what to expect from SPORTKILL:
The movie is based on the Milgram experiments of 1961. The experiments confirmed the willingness of a participant to inflict harm on another. Milgram found that 64% of participants actually inflicted fatal voltages simply because they were asked to. SportKill explores what people would do in the situation. I wanted to really go deep inside a killer’s mind, so I asked myself, what if I was this killer? I mean to see someone die from my own hands, or because of something I did. That scared me to think like that. Being a victim doesn’t really scare me anymore it just pisses me off. As for Rachel (Dona Wood) in the movie, she had to make these choices or be the victim. So I combined the voyeuristic tendencies of our culture and the horror of seeing someone die from your own hands.
