Danny Boyle, the director that brought zombie films to a whole new level with 28 DAYS LATER is at it again, this time bringing the horrors of space to a place we really haven’t seen done well in a long time.
SUNSHINE is the story of a space mission, who’s goal is to jump start the sun so that life on Earth will survive. Yes, it sounds like THE CORE, but after checking out the brand new trailer, with an introduction by Boyle himself, you can see that it’s really nothing like that at all. This baby is lookin’ intense, like something you’d see in ALIEN, or even 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY. Like I said, we’ve seen too many RED PLANET style space flicks of late, and SUNSHINE is lookin’ to squash the hell out of them.
The cast kicks ass too: Rose Byrne, Cliff Curtis, Chris Evans, Troy Garity, Cillian Murphy (!), Hiroyuki Sanada, Benedict Wong and Michelle Yeoh! With an ensemble like that, where can you go wrong? Be sure to check out the film’s Official Blog to view the new trailer, as well as an assload of other fun stuff to get you pumped for March 2007, when SUNSHINE is scheduled to be released upon us.
