Kramer Seeks Evil

This week Now Planning Magazine interviewed director Wayne Kramer, he who helmed last year’s under-rated RUNNING SCARED. The guy had lots to say about what went wrong with SCARED, and also talked about his upcoming project, EVIL SEEK.

We’ve seen movies about Satan before, and sometimes they work well (CONSTANTINE), and sometimes they don’t (END OF DAYS), but most times there’s always room for improvement. Kramer’s idea of Satan in EVIL SEEK sounds orignal, and interesting as hell- something we haven’t seen in a while! Check out his description:Every 1000 years in hell, they elect a new Satan, so the reigning Satan has to come down to Earth, take over the body of a mortal and find his successor, the most evil person alive. And he wakes up in the body of an FBI profiler working a terrible serial killing case in LA. And it’s kind of like Seven meets Heaven Can Wait. And sort of like Satan is the one moral guy in this film. And he has inherited a disgruntled ex-wife, a 15-year-old daughter who’s becoming all promiscuous, a lesbian partner. And he’s got no powers, just a nose for evil. And it turns out that when he starts investigating these bizarre killings, it looks like the killer’s trying to summon the devil, so it’s kind of an interesting thing that’s about to happen.

How frickin’ cool does that sound? Satan as a real dude? Can’t recall seeing that before, and that’s f*ckin’ awesome! I see some serious potential here to be rockin’, and as I truly dug RUNNING SCARED, I can only imagine good things with SEEK.
