Yahoo!Movies scored the final U.S. trailer for Fox’s horror remake of the summer THE OMEN today, and while we finally get to see some Julia Stiles, Mia Farrow and Liev Schreiber in action, it still doesn’t save the fact that this puppy looks like a stinker.
Let’s just step away from this beast and pretend it’s not a remake at all and something new. It just doesn’t look like it’s gonna be a good movie. Or an entertaining movie. We have a couple that seems just way too young to be parents of this kid (who the hell names their kid Damien anyway), and a bunch of events that seem to come from out of nowhere (like that chick hanging herself). Top it off with horrible music, especially near the trailers climax (should have really kept the original score- oh wait, we’re not looking at this as a remake), and you have yourself what appears to be a boring, predictable and nothing too special cookie cutter horror flick. Yippie.
But how can you judge it without seeing it, right? Click HERE to check out the trailer and make your own call. For me, it looks rancid. Hell, maybe it’s just a bad trailer- it happens- but generally speaking, the trailer is supposed to show you the best parts of the movie- and when a trailer stinks this bad…. well, things aren’t looking up. Watch for Damien’s return 06/06/06, when it hits theaters everywhere.
