Time to Awaken

These days it seems like throwing zombies into any kind of a situation is what zombie films are all about. From PLANE DEAD that Matt told you about, to the craziness of SLITHER, you have zombies with a twist, and you have yourself a keeper.


Case in point is AWAKEN THE DEAD, the new movie from director Jeff Brookshire, about a priest and some chick who get trapped in a house while zombies invade the world. Doesn’t sound that cool, right? Well Horror Movies.ca had a chance to talk with Brookshire, and here’s what he had to say regarding the film’s originality:“(The) outline doesn’t touch on the great humor Stanley (the lead) provides or some of the really cool scenes like one were Stanley accidentally shorts the power out and plunges them into darkness just as zombies break in. It’s a great fighting zombies in the dark scene”


Do I smell another Bruce Campbell on our hands here? Check out the trailer and take a gander for yourself. A lot of action and not much else, more like a teaser than a full on trailer. A priest popping caps into zombies just sounds like a good time though. Sure, we’re talkin’ super low budget here, but there’s serious promise to be had.
