RE: Extinction Returns

You’re either a RESIDENT EVIL fan, or you’re not. I for one am not, mostly because I thought the first film had the potential to be a phat action ultra gore fest, and was disapointed by how edited for TV it felt. But that’s just me. Production Weekly got word today that Oded Fehr will reprise his roll of Carlos Olivera from RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE in the upcoming RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION, from director Russell Mulcahy and writer Paul W.S. Anderson. Yay.

Other notable cast members include Milla Jovovich (of course) and Mike Epps. There’s been some speculation about what this round of zombie killin’ is gonna be about… until now. Here’s how PW describes it:

Alice is running with a new pack of human, leading a caravan that’s cutting through the Nevada desert on a long trek to Alaska. Hunter by the minions of the perfetually scheming Dr. Isaacs, ALice has zombies hungry for her flesh and lab rats hungry for her blood- while Alice herself is hungry for only one thing: revenge.

I think I’m gonna be siding with the zombies this time around because I too am hungry for Jovovich’s flesh. Seriously though, the story sounds epic… but it will most likely blow with Anderson penning the screenplay. What can I say, I don’t like the man’s work.

EXTICTION is set to begin filming mid-May in Mexico, which probably means this episode of RESIDENT EVIL will be hitting theaters sometime next summer.
