Since we started following the course of writer/director Joseph M. Monk’s latest project THE BUNKER, I’ve been intrigued and amazed that a movie was being made by a blind director. Directing isn’t an easy job when one can see (not that I am one, but I’m not stupid- that shit is hard!), let alone when one’s blind. I knew then that the film would have heart and soul- cause anyone who has that much passion is going to produce something great.
Today the first TRAILER hit the net, and the first thing I thought was… man, this puppy’s dark! It could be it’s just the trailer on the net, and not the actual movie, but I found myself squinting the whole time, trying to see what the hell was going on. Maybe I’m just old. But from what I saw, it looks pretty good- and looks even better, considering a blind guy directed it.
THE BUNKER tells the tale about a congressman’s daughter who is kidnapped, imprisoned and tormented by a vicious serial killer. Some nice sick and twisted shit to hold you over the weekend. Scheduled to hit the theater circuit soon, Monks is getting excited to have his filmed viewed by many:
“We [Monks and FLOWERS creator Hart D. Fisher] did the LA Fango show last year and had a blast, and have been planning to return, so it makes sense to premiere the film in LA the same weekend as the convention,” Monks says. “We’re still in negotiations with the theater, but those negotiations are in the final stage, and everything looks good for a Sunday-night premiere.”
NICE! Glad to see it’s making it’s way into theaters before hitting DVD- more STV movies should take that route!
