Sounds like Ghost House Pictures and Columbia Pictures are gearing up for an all-star cast for their upcoming sequel to 2004’s THE GRUDGE. Not only does it sound like Sarah Michelle Gellar is making an appearance, but The Hollywood Reporter announced today that FLASHDANCE-er Jennifer Beals is set to co-star in the flick as well. Sweet!
Amber Tamblyn, of ‘Joan of Arcadia’, and most importantly, as the dead chick in the beginning of THE RING, is set to star in flick, which is being directed by orignal GRUDGE director Takashi Shimizu. Apparently the sequel dives into the secrets of the grudges wrath. We don’t follow just one character, but a host of seemingly unrelated characters who find themselves connected by the curse.
Beals’ exact character isn’t being revealed as of yet, but if she runs around in leg warmers, working at a steel mill and dancin’ like a maniac- well, you know we’ll be in for a good time.
I’m actually pretty stoked that Beals is in the sequel- that move somehow gives this sequel more class than it had before. That, or they need washed up stars from the 80s cause the production can’t afford any bigger stars from today. I prefer to believe the former than the later though. Look for THE GRUDGE 2 hitting theaters sometime next year.
