James Cameron, one of the phattest directors of all time, delivering some of the ultimate in sci/fi and horror over the last 30 years, hasn’t made shit in a long time. The man who brought us T2 and ALIENS all but stopped making features since he won the Oscar for TITANIC. The f*ck.
Today he talked with AICN’s Quint about a variety of things, like his upcoming PROJECT 880 (ok, he mentioned it and that’s about it), 3-D movies and how his plan to make a 5th ALIEN with Ridley Scott got shut down by 20th Century Fox (!)… Read on….
Ridley and I talked about doing another ALIEN film and I said to 20th Century Fox that I would develop a 5th ALIEN film. I started working on a story, I was working with another writer and Fox came back to me and said, “We’ve got this really good script for ALIEN VS PREDATOR and I got pretty upset. I said, “You do that you’re going to kill the validity of the franchise in my mind.”
And can you believe he actually liked AVP? Yup, and I quote: I actually liked it. I actually liked it a lot.
Noooooooooooooooooo! Why???? I don’t think I’m the only one out there who feels that a Cameron/Scott ALIEN film would be the ultimate ALIEN movie… and would have blown AVP, in quality and total gross, out of the water! What the hell were they thinkin’ to pick Paul W.S. Anderson over this genius???
