The studio that has brought new life to the horror genre, Lions Gate Films, is from this point forward going to known simply as Lionsgate- they even have a new logo to boot!
So why the new look?“Lionsgate” represents the ongoing unification of the Company’s diversified motion picture, television, home entertainment, family entertainment, documentary film, music publishing and video-on-demand businesses into a single, highly recognizable brand.
Right. Family entertainment. That’s what I call it too. Regardless, I’m digging the new look, yet seing the huge LGF splashed on the screen kinda made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside… the new look doesn’t do that for me… but I’m sure I’ll warm up to it!
In other Lionsgate news, they’re planning on releasing 2001 MANIACS on DVD sometime in 2006, and Jim Isaac’s werewolf flick SKINWALKERS is looking to slam into theaters next December (yes, a whole year away… damn them!!!).
So let’s give it up to Lionsgate for coming this far, and hope that they won’t forget their roots (yeah Paramount, I’m talkin’ to you!) and keep it real in the horror business in the future! Cheers!
