IGN had a chance to chat it up with writer Roger Avery, regarding his upcoming video game adaptation of SILENT HILL, directed by Christophe Gans.
Think this is gonna be your average video game to the big screen adaption, like we’ve seen so many times before? Think again:
“In the script phase, we had long, long moments where seemingly nothing happens. It’s all atmosphere – you’re falling slowly into a world and experiencing it much like you would in the game.”
Ok. Sure. That hasn’t been done before? So where’s the love for all the game to screen movies before this one?
“Maybe the question is: will Silent Hill make game designers more comfortable? Guys like Uwe Boll have done a lot of damage, and I don’t know that one good game adaptation will undo all of it.”
Yo, why you got to be hatin’ on Uwe Boll? Yes, his movies utterly suck like no other, but he put his heart and soul into them, so at least give the guy some credit! Won’t it be a good laugh for everyone (especially Avery here), when HILL comes out and sucks just about as much donkey balls as HOUSE OF THE DEAD? Hey- it could happen! We’ll just have to wait and see….
