First Hills report

Fangoria had a chance to sit down with the filmmakers behind the upcoming THE HILLS HAVE EYES remake today, giving quite the interesting look at to what we should be expecting when the flick hits theaters later next year.

Directed by Alexandre Aja, who brought us last year’s HIGH TENSION, the flick just wrapped up filming in the Moroccan desert, and judging from what producer Cody Zwieg is saying, we’re all in for a serious treat:

“The original HILLS is a classic in its own way, but everybody involved would agree that it wasn’t necessarily a perfect movie. They shot it fast, they had no money, they made it as scary as possible with an incredibly original story, but they had their limitations. I believe we’re able to take it a step further, whether it’s with prosthetics, or visual effects, or expanding the story. When you look at something like that, why not try to update it, breathe new life into it?”

I can’t really disagree with the fact that the original, while classic in all respects, wasn’t a perfect movie- but I have a feeling the low budget and rushed production added to the flick’s creepy feel and all around scariness- but I suppose only a few months until March 10th when we’ll all find out if the remake will match the original, or fall flat on it’s face.
