No Ash in Dead?

I’m starting to get a little sick with the whole ‘are they or aren’t they’ theories, rumors and heresays when it comes to the most despised remake of them all, EVIL DEAD. (sigh) But here we go again…

Dread Central scored an interview with Bruce Campbell today, mostly to talk about Campbell’s THE MAN WITH THE SCREAMING BRAIN, but he did happen to drop a line or two regarding the EVIL DEAD remake.

“I don’t think we’re gonna have an Ash. I think we’re gonna take similar elements like the book in that it’s sort of as though the book is resurfacing with a – in a new situation. So that way, ya know, you don’t hassle with the whole who is getting Ashton Kutcher to play Ash or some horseshit, ya know? You don’t have to play that game.”

And you know, it makes sense. Except then it wouldn’t really be a remake as much as a revisioning of sorts- and we all know how well those are. When it’s all said and done though, this still doesn’t shed a whole heck of a lot of light on the would-be project, and really at this point, who cares. What? I said it. Who cares….
