Some of you may have wondered what the dealio was with the constant name changing of New Line’s upcoming snakes on a plane thriller SNAKES ON A PLANE aka PACIFIC AIR FLIGHT 121. Well today, Fangoria chatted with SNAKES writer Josh Olson to clear up all the confusion.
The film’s line producer was the one behind the name change because
“their concern was going to airports and saying, ‘Hi, we’d like to film SNAKES ON A PLANE here.’ So they decided to come up with a working title, so they could say, ‘Hi, we want to shoot PACIFIC AIR FLIGHT 121 here.’ And somehow it leaked out that they had changed the [official] title, when in fact they had not.”
And you know what, that makes so much sense!!! And apparently, they did the same thing with A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, which you can read all about by clicking HERE. I personally think the original SNAKES title is priceless, and they’d be stupid not to keep it. It doesn’t lie about what kind of movie it is, and at the same time, wins the award for the coolest movie title of the year!
