But maybe it won’t be as bad as HIGHLANDER III, as Adrian Paul, best known as Duncan MacLeod on the T.V. series, will be the star of this latest HIGHLANDER entry. Change is good, and while I’m a big fan of Christopher Lambert as MacLeod, he was really gettin’ too old for that sh*t.
From the director of THE LAWNMOWER MAN and MAN-THING, Brett Leonard, this is the beginning of yet another trilogy of HIGHLANDER films, telling the adventures of the Immortals hunting down the Holy Grail of their world. Leonard had this to say about the project:
“This is a tremendous opportunity for a storyteller of this genre to take part in the mythology of 20 years.’HIGHLANDER is an amazing ongoing story that I can bring my visual style to… Everything I have done has led me to this kind of mythical fantasy.”
Wow. Did he just say his whole career has lead up to this moment of directing the next HIGHLANDER movie? Ok…. I guess it’s a good thing the guy’s so gun-ho over it, as he’s right- the HIGHLANDER story is truly badass and epic- and in need of some serious work to go from the recent weak-sauce HIGHLANDER to the kick-ass days of yore HIGHLANDER.
Did I just say ‘days of yore’… man, I really did, didn’t I…
