International action director and producer of the modern day retelling of such classics as THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and THE AMITYVILLE HORROR, Michael Bay, dropped a line to MTV saying that Sam Rockwell (GALAXY QUEST) will be the new and improved crazy psychopathic hitchhiker in his next remake, THE HITCHER.
Stepping into Rutgar Hauer’s shoes, Rockwell (who was GREAT as that sick f*ck in THE GREEN MILE) will be tormenting some young teenager with crimes of vengeance, murder and mayhem. Good times were had by all in this 1986 original, and everyone who’s seen it has been scratching their heads at why anyone would want to remake it…
Directed by music video director Dave Meyers, THE HITCHER remake will…. ah hell, that’s just wrong. Raping a classic like this. I don’t think I can stomach anymore talk of it. We’ll let you know if Rockwell is signed, as his rep’s keep saying that nothing’s official as of yet.
