I find this somehow shocking, but at the same time, not at all. A reader over at Cinescape was at last weekends Jawsfest for the 30th Anniversary of the classic killer shark movie. While there, they heard some interesting tidbits from Joe Alves, the production designer of the film….
“It was an early morning chat about how they made ‘Bruce’ work, conducted at the Church. Interesting stuff, not the least of all…the bit on the new JAWS they’re trying to make. Apparently Richard Dreyfuss might be coming back in a new JAWS movie, and they’re trying to design a shark at the moment that’s more flexible than Bruce was, without having to resort to CGI.”
Cool thing? Trying to make it without using CGI. Lame thing? Trying to make another JAWS movie! I guess everyone forgot about JAWS: THE REVENGE and how shitty it was. Leave this killer shark movie craze to the DEEP BLUE SEAs of the world, and leave the original in as much respectful piece as possible.
The only way it’d be awesome is if you know who came back as directed… and I have a feeling that’d be a hard sell. We’ll keep you posted though, as of right now this is just heresay… but it doesn’t mean it’s not true.
