Our step-father site JoBlo.com got hooked up something special today with an exclusive scoop on what we can all expect from James Wan and Leigh Whannell’s next flick, SILENCE.
Yes, those twisted guys that brought us SAW are back for another go-round of mayhem. Here’s how our man on the inside Mike Sampson describes it:
SILENCE follows Jamie Ashen, a young man whose wife, Lisa, recently died a tragic and strange death. Naturally, Jamie is the lead suspect and is quickly shadowed by an overzealous police detective, Jim Lipton. But our hero knows (obviously) he didn’t kill his wife and sets out to solve the mystery, starting with the ventriloquist dummy she received shortly before dying. Jamie’s search leads him back to his hometown of Raven’s Fair where he comes face-to-face with his abusive father and the ghostly presence of Mary Shaw, a once famous ventriloquist now bent on getting revenge and finding the love of a family that so avoided her in life.
Ok, ghosts, ventriloquist dummies, strange deaths… it’s a genre fans wet dream (minus the pressence of Pam Anderson, of course). Dummies are always scary, no matter what anyone else says, and coming from these two, you know this shite’s gonna be twisted!
SILENCE begins shooting this June in Toronto, and the boys are also producing the sequel to SAW, SAW 2, which (lucky for them…) begins filming at the same time. Man, what a work load!
