Missing those good ol’ summer camp slasher films that we all grew up on and learned to love? Well, it’s time to get reacquainted, as Moviehouse Pictures’ trailer for DARKEST HOUR has hit the net!
Directed by Dan Zachary, this flick’s set at an abandoned summer camp that supposedly staging a murder mystery game… until the participants start getting killed off for real! Starring Todd Hann and Benjamin Gutknecht, this low budget indie-flick looks like a barrel of fun that you can check out by going to their Official Website, where you can spy some stills, and the all new TRAILER.
Looks like a cross between FRIDAY THE 13th, HALLOWEEN and SCREAM- filled with some hot chicks, splattering blood and just enough screams for a good time.
The director chatted with Fangoria about their attempt to get picked up by a major distributor at last year’s American Film Market. Here’s a bit of what he had to say:
“The response from Hollywood’s movers and shakers has been amazing. As a filmmaker, it’s hard to get distributors to see the full potential of an indie film in its raw, early stages…but somehow we overcame that obstacle. We marched into Hollywood with a rough edit and rough audio, but the story and the characters still shined through.
We’ve done remarkably well considering all the strikes against us. We stormed into AFM as unknown filmmakers with a rough edit and a no-name cast. We’ve walked away with the rare luxury of knowing that our film is actually going to sell. We’re very proud of what we’ve created—the last thing we wanted to do was make a cheap slasher movie gathering dust on the video store shelves.”
Judging from the trailer, it still looks like a cheap slasher movie- but one that’s fun, and hopefully won’t be gathering dust once they find a distributor. To check out the rest of the interview, as well as what we might expect from the DVD, click HERE.
