Fangoria had a chance to chat with newly named scribe of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE prequel David J. Schow today, talking about everything from Letherface’s motives and what we’re to expect from the prequel.
“As Brad Fuller or Andrew Form said early on—and I’m paraphrasing here—‘We’re not going to see Leatherface at his prom.’ The facts in the case are more like tidbits which, if you think about them, can lead you to your own conclusions about the connective tissue, your own extrapolations. In real life, it’s never as simple as ‘Oh, that was the thing that set him/her off.’ [David] Berkowitz’s dog telling him to kill was a symptom, not a rationale. When you consider the family in the various other CHAINSAW films, their behavior is really no different from that of the average wolf pack. They are predators, plain and simple.”
Bravo to producers Fuller and Form for picking Schow for the job- he is, afterall, the one who wrote THE CROW as well as LEATHERFACE: TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE III (not to mention CRITTERS 3 & 4…). It’s been a busy week of TCM PREQUEL news (see article HERE) as THE AMITYVILLE HORROR is nearing release, and at least we can all breathe a little easier knowing that it’s not going to be PG-13…
