International action-movie producer Michael Bay (and his production company Platinum Dunes), who as of late has turned into the international horror-movie producer, has signed on to producer another fright flick with Radar Pictures (the team who brought us the upcoming THE AMITYVILLE HORROR remake), and Paramount Pictures.
This time around, it’s not a remake (thank God!), but an adaptation of David Ambrose’s supernatural novel SUPERSTITION- about a scientifically conducted seance that draws a deadly ghost who shifts reality to account for its existence. Oooooo- sounds spooky.
Penning the adaptation is Neal Marshall Stevens, who’s familiar with horror, with both THIRTEEN GHOSTS and the upcoming HELLRAISER: DEADER under his belt. “I think the novel’s a great jumping-off point for a movie, especially since I mostly get offered projects that have been done a lot — usually involving slashers or teenagers trapped in the woods.” He sounds passionate about it, and seems like he’s looking to break free of some of the crap he’s written in the past- making us all winners. He’s off to a good start too, with his supernatural script for MOLLY’S WORLD making waves over at New Line.
I’ll give it to Bay- the guy can make one helluva entertaining movie, and all signs point to fun for this one. SUPERSTITION is set to begin production later this year.
