Variety reported today that Intermedia Motion Picture Group has signed Joel Bergval and Simon Sandquist of THE INVISIBLE fame to direct the fright-fest FEAR ITSELF.
Written by Tony Jaswinski, FEAR is about a detective who finds a string of victims murdered… by their worst fears. The premise sounds cool, somewhere between NOES and SEVEN with a twist. Let’s just hope it gets theatrical nods, instead of straight-to-video.
Intermedia also has plans to remake the a Swedish film SLEEPWALKER, re-written by Michael Gilvary, about a sleepwalker who wakes up one day to find his family missing, and his bed soaked with blood. Sound creepy? You bet your ass it does! It also sounds like what can happen after a heavy night of drinking too…
Intermedia’s Scott Kroopf says that “these are two terrific genre films, the kind of moderately budgeted, commercially oriented material Intermedia wants to do.” Could Intermedia be the next Anchor Bay or Lions Gate? We’ll see….
