Hello compadres. Got some location news and other tidbits on Dante Tomaselli’s (SATAN’S PLAYGROUND) next project THE OCEAN. Movies Online got the scoop right from the mouth of the mad genre fiend, so I’ll let his words do the talkin’.
I’m setting THE OCEAN in The Bermuda Triangle, which is known for its mysterious and bizarre disappearances. I decided I want to shoot it in Puerto Rico in an area where the waves are consistently big. The film starts off with a plane descending into the ocean. As the camera plunges underwater, we cut to a violent drowning happening off the coast of a nearby island. The Bermuda Triangle or the “Devil’s Triangle” is one of the few places on earth where a magnetic compass literally spins out of control. I’ve always been fascinated and chilled-to-the-bone by those paranoid 70’s documentaries on the supernatural abyss. I’m taking that sense of wonder and fear and applying it to the film.
Gotta say that I’m pretty enthused about the setting. I mean, what’s creepier, oceanically, than The Bermuda Triangle? Don’t forget to click here for some interesting casting tidbits, too.
