Cage as Old Boy?

The Korea Herald got some interesting news while international action star Nicolas Cage was in visiting Korea to promote his new film NATIONAL TREASURE.

Apparently Cage wants to play the lead role in the American remake of Park Chan-wook’s ultraviolant and ultratight revenge film, OLD BOY. The remake is currently under preproduction right now over at Universal, but no one is signed for the lead role yet. And Cage seems mighty eager to fill the shoes.

While I haven’t seen OLD BOY, which just won this year’s runner up at the Cannes Film Festival, the main character’s role would be perfect for Cage: a raging alcoholic who’s kidnapped… and when released, goes on a bloody rampage of revenge.

Cage does his best as a drunk, so yippie for this! Hopefully he’ll get the role, as I’ve always been a huge fan of Cage, even when he’s in shite (WINDTALKERS anyone?) he does a good job. Let’s just pray that the remake will be as kick-ass as the orginal. Click HERE to read The Arrow’s review of OLD BOY. Cages next role as Johnny Blaze in GHOST RIDER is currently in pre-production.
