OK, so forgive me if I’m a little pissed. We all know that Uwe Boll fell short of genre excellence with HOUSE OF THE DEAD. But goddammit, give the guy a break. He’s trying to bring cool horror concepts to the big screen and doing a damn fine job of it. With only one project to judge him on, I’ll say this – he appreciates gore, he appreciates nudity, and he appreciates what we f*cking want as graphic flick fans. So let’s all take a deep breath and give the motherf*cker a chance.
This basically leads to my reporting that HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2 is in development through Lions Gate, but Boll has nothing to do with it. It will be directed by Mike Hurst and written by Mark Altman. There seems to be much glee flippin’ around the net that Uwe will be absent from this jazz. OK, I understand that in a way, but why not support somebody who’s getting our shit done? Why not wait to see if ALONE IN THE DARK and BLOODRAYNE blow, before determining that the man doesn’t deserve to live?
It’s a simple thing to criticize, and it should be done. But we’ve got few enough hard core supporters in the studio system. Let’s give some support. If Boll uses up our patience, then we can all get together and burn him on a pyre of his own failed DVD’s. Til then, let’s give the dude some credit for what he’s trying to do.
