Looks like Jamie-Lynn DiScala, yes Meadow Soprano herself, is getting into the genre game. Perhaps she’s going through an existential crisis and feels that to balance her karma, it’s time for her to face potential whacking.
The project she’s getting her hands bloody with is DARK RIDE, produced by My2Centences in association with Blue Omega Entertainment. The familiar faces over at Lions Gate are set to release it. The story follows a group of college students on a road trip who stop at an abandoned amusement park in Asbury Park, NJ (though principle shooting is in Los Angeles). Largely set inside a horror attraction, the film tracks the youths as they are stalked and slain by a vicious murderer.
Gotta say that I’ve got a big soft spot for the creepiness of amusement parks in genre work. Throw me on any Disney “Family” ride, and all I’m seeing is Demons and Slashers (Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride anyone?) So here’s hoping they manage to really use the setting to its full effect, rather than letting it be just another generic stalk sequence background.
