A Dark Christmas

A few days ago I posted a link for the trailer for Dimension Films THE DARK(formally DARKNESS) (here), starring Anna Paquin, which had originally been slated for a release date last summer (I know I said it was coming this summer- I was wrong- my bad). Today Variety reports that Dimension has moved it’s release date…again…to Christmas Day. This made me smile because the trailer looks spooky, and I just can’t get enough of scary horror flicks in the theater- thank you Dimension for this dose of Holiday Cheer!

Of course, THE DARK has also been waiting to be released for the last three years, so who’s to say the new date’s going to stick. There are already eight new films already scheduled to come out that week, including MEET THE FOCKERS, FAT ALBERT and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (a Joel Schumacher musical? Yikes!), which has some big-wigs squealing, thinking there’s not going to be enough room at the local Cineplex’s to hold them all. Or maybe they’re scared that a good ol’ scary ghost story is going to slaughter the box office. I say, competition never hurt nobody, and if any flick is gonna f*ck shit up, it ought to be a bloody scary one! Happy Holidays! (and Happy Halloween!)

Thanks to Mary Chan for the heads up!
