A Harley Quinn/Groot crossover was pitched by James Gunn to Marvel, DC

It's a given that James Gunn has some wild ideas rattling around in the big, creative brain of his, but did you know that he once pitched a Harley Quinn and Groot crossover to both Marvel Studios and DC Films? Recently while speaking with Emmy-winner Jake Hamilton for an episode of Jake's Takes, Gunn revealed that he'd love to see the two characters come together for one wacky adventure on the big screen.

When asked by Hamilton what his "pie in the sky" crossover project between both studios would be, Gunn excitedly replied, "I would really be happy to do a Harley Quinn and Groot movie. That would be exciting for me." As thrilling as this idea is, it also sounds like a nightmare made of red tape and lawyer's fees. Gunn knows this, and that's why he's framing it as a fun fantasy project, as opposed to something that will actually happen.

"Not only have I thought about that, I've actually talked to the heads of both Marvel and DC. They know everybody is open to everything, but whether anything would ever happen, who knows? The idea of being able to bring Marvel and DC together in a movie would be really fun for me. It's something we all like to dream about. Whether we could ever get through the barrage, the Berlin Wall of lawyers to make that happen, I don't know."

As if the idea of a Harley Quinn and Groot crossover isn't enough to make you nerdgasm in your under armor, Gunn says that he'd like to see a Rocket Raccoon, Groot, King Shark, and Weasel movie happen as well.

Alright, who's got a Necronomicon I can borrow? If you send it to me, I'll arrange a summoning spell that calls the ultimate lawyer up from the Ninth Circle of Hell to get this deal done. What could possibly go wrong?
