Loki: Michael Waldron on the unused idea that was too much for Kevin Feige

Over the course of six episodes, Loki gave us its fair share of weirdness including Alligator Loki, the Thanos-copter, and much more, but there was one element that wound up being cut from the script as it proved to be too much for Kevin Feige.

While speaking on the Ringer-Verse podcast, Loki head-writer Michael Waldron was asked about some of the more bizarre concepts from the series.

Once upon a time, the opening of Episode 3 – when Sylvie is attempting to infiltrate Hunter C-20's mind – that actually turned into kind of a fight sequence where the TVA had defenses in place. So there are people in the memory, and the beach bar actually turned on Sylvie and were attacking her, and it got crazier and crazier – and there were little kids attacking her, and then I literally wrote in that an armadillo with a laser mounted on it comes [into] the beach bar and is firing, and Sylvie kicks it like a soccer ball out into the ocean. That was in a script.

Just to repeat that: At one point Loki had an armadillo with a frickin' laser beam on its head. I love it. "Kevin [Feige] often references that to me," Michael Waldron said. "He's like, 'That might be the bar for [being] too much.'" With Loki set to return for a second season, I can only hope that Laser-dillo might just see the light of day. While Waldron hasn't confirmed if he'll be returning for the second season, we already know that Loki director Kate Herron won't be back. "I would say that when I joined Loki, it was always going to be those six episodes," Herron said. "We were treating it like a movie, and we were running it like a movie. We weren't doing it in the showrunner system. So it was a lot to direct these six episodes, and I gave it all of my energy and everything I had in my soul and in my heart. I threw everything I loved about Marvel at it. So I always intended just to do these six." All six episodes of Loki are now streaming on Disney+.
