The Last Rite trailer: Leroy Kincaide film premieres this weekend

Once the UK’s top professional wrestler, Leroy Kincaide (who also had a televised WWE match) has now made his feature directorial debut with the supernatural horror film The Last Rite, which is set to make its world premiere at the Arrow Video FrightFest on Saturday, August 28th at the Cineworld, Leicester Sq. The screening begins at 6:15pm. In anticipation of the premiere, a trailer for The Last Rite has been released online and can be seen above.

Inspired by true events, Kincaide’s personal paranormal experiences, and the filmmaker’s love of movies like The Amityville Horror, Poltergeist, and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, this Nocturnal Pictures production has the following synopsis:

A medical student suffering from sleep paralysis finds herself plagued by a demonic entity hell-bent on ripping her apart. With time running out and the dark force consuming her from within, Lucy is left with no alternative but to seek help from a local priest, But Father Roberts has a dilemma – does he obey orders or help Lucy by conducting his own exorcism against the will of the church?

Johnny Fleming, Bethan Waller, Kit Smith, Ian McNaughton, and Tara Hoyos-Martinez star.

There’s not much to go on in the trailer, it just shares with us the creepy sounds of an exorcism, so I’m interested in hearing more about The Last Rite. Hopefully it will go over well when the first audience has the chance to watch the movie at FrightFest this weekend. I don’t usually get very excited when I hear a new exorcism movie is coming our way, since they tend to fall far below the quality of The Exorcist, but I’m open to giving them a chance when they come along.

A couple promotional images for The Last Rite can be seen below – and if you’re a fan of exorcism movies aside from The Exorcist, let us know in the comments section.
