It’s been over three years since the last season of Donald Glover’s award-winning comedy series Atlanta, but fans finally have something to look forward to. FX has announced that the first two episodes of Atlanta season 3 will release on FX on March 24, 2022. Still a few months away, but it’s something!
“We are thrilled to have Atlanta back with a new season on March 24th,” said Eric Schrier, President, FX Entertainment about the premiere of Atlanta season 3. “Once again, Donald Glover, the producers and stellar cast have delivered another signature season synonymous with the excellence that makes Atlanta so great.” Atlanta season 3 will take place almost entirely in Europe as it finds “Earn (Donald Glover), Alfred /Paper Boi’ (Brian Tyree Henry), Darius (LaKeith Stanfield) and Van (Zazie Beetz) in the midst of a successful European tour, as the group navigates their new surroundings as outsiders, and struggle to adjust to the newfound success they had aspired to.” We’ll see a new teaser trailer for the new season of Atlanta on Christmas Day during ESPN and ABC’s NBA games. Following the premiere of Atlanta season 3, the episodes will be available to stream on Hulu the day after.
Atlanta was actually renewed for a third season all the way back in 2018 but was delayed due to Donald Glover’s busy schedule. It was delayed once again when the pandemic shut down productions across the globe, but filming finally got underway this past summer. The third season was actually shot back-to-back with the fourth season, which means that we shouldn’t have to wait another three years between seasons.
