Daredevil: Charlie Cox supports Marvel making a less violent season four

Daredevil, Charlie Cox, season four, Marvel, Disney+, MCU

With news that all of the Netflix Marvel series are heading to Disney+ on March 16, 2022, fans are hoping that we will get to see more from some of the shows that ended too soon. Marvel hasn’t really expressed how they will use the likes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, or Luke Cage but we do know that Daredevil actor Charlie Cox will be our “Man Without Fear” moving forward in the MCU. After making a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home there has been some speculation on how he will be used next, with some hoping that we will get a season four of his popular series. With the show now being housed on Disney+, some think that they may have to dilute the violence a bit if they choose to move forward with another season and Charlie Cox is in favor of Marvel doing that.

While speaking to ComicBook.com about his AMC+ series Kin, Cox talked about whether he thinks Daredevil would shift to a more PG-13 production if it moved forward within the MCU. Cox seemed game with whatever direction Marvel takes because he has faith in their abilities. Here is what he had to say:

“I wouldn’t put it past the folks at Marvel to be able to accomplish that. I’m such a fan of everything they’ve done so far, I wouldn’t underestimate them at all. So if they wanted to make a more PG version of Daredevil, I back them to find a way to do where it feels totally in keeping with everything we’ve done. And maybe there’s a little less blood, maybe there’s a little whatever, but I back them to do it.”

Cox went on to express that while he supports a PG-13 Daredevil, he still doesn’t believe that Matt Murdock would work in the same family-friendly atmosphere that someone like Spider-Man does. Just how Marvel would make all of that work is up in the air but he seems confident in their direction when they wish to take more on with the character. Should they move forward with a new season of Disney+, it may not need to be sanitized at all. The first three seasons, which is far more violent than most fare on the streamer, will be available on the platform as they aired on Netflix and Disney is simply adding new settings to give viewers the option to block certain content by adding a pin to access shows that have more adult subject matter. This could be done with a new season of Daredevil without having to make it more PG-13 friendly. If they went the film route, that’s another story but I think a series could still maintain its edge without having to censor much of it at all.

Do YOU support Marvel making Daredevil more PG-13 friendly?
