Frank & Penelope trailer: Sean Patrick Flanery directs cult thriller coming to theatres in June

Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints) has made his feature directorial debut with the cult thriller Frank & Penelope, which is set to receive a theatrical release on June 3rd, courtesy of Redbud Studios, and we got the first trailer. A look at the film has been released online, and you can check it out in the embed above to see if this looks like something you’d want to watch in a couple months.

Scripted by Flanery from a story by John Thaddeus, Frank & Penelope has the following synopsis:

Leaving their broken lives in the rearview mirror, Frank and Penelope head West with no destination in mind but each other. But a chance meeting leads them to the “Table of Truth” with a seductive, charismatic cult leader who has a penchant for travelers’ darkest secrets – and his own ideas on sins of the flesh. Two soulmates who had nothing to for live now find themselves in a bloody battle for life and love in a world where EVERYTHING is worth dying for.

Billy Budinich (Untitled Murder Project 2.0) and Caylee Cowan (Willy’s Wonderland) star as title characters Frank and Penelope. They’re joined in the cast by Kevin Dillon (The Blob), Johnathon Schaech (Laid to Rest), Donna D’Errico (Candyman: Day of the Dead), Lin Shaye (Insidious), and Flanery himself.

Frank & Penelope was produced by Scott Dolezal, Van Scott Folger, and Andrew Shebay.

This looks like the sort of post-Natural Born Killers “lovers on the run” movie I would have watched on cable or VHS back in the ’90s… which isn’t an insult, because I enjoyed watching those flicks. I’ll be watching Frank & Penelope, too. I don’t expect to catch it on the big screen, but a viewing of this is definitely in my future.
