Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will debut on HBO Max next week

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore may not have impressed at the box office, but those of you who weren’t able to see the film in theaters now have your chance. Warner Bros. announced today that Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will debut on HBO Max on May 30th, which just so happens to be a week from today.

In addition to its release on HBO Max, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will be released on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on June 28, 2022. Along with an HDR presentation of the film and a Dolby Atmos audio track, the special features include:

The third installment of the Fantastic Beasts franchise finds Professor Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) knowing that the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore was received slightly better than its predecessor, but still nowhere near the level of the original Harry Potter franchise. It was announced early on that the Fantastic Beasts franchise would consist of five movies, but following the poor reception of the Fantastic Beasts franchise, not to mention the controversies involving some of those associated with it, some have wondered if Warner Bros. will just pull the plug. David Zaslav, the new CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, is also reportedly considering developing new Harry Potter content for HBO Max and will be meeting with creator J.K. Rowling to discuss the possibilities.
