Mike Tyson accuses Hulu of stealing his story after moving forward with a documentary series about his life

Mike Tyson isn’t holding back regarding speaking out against Hulu for moving forward with a documentary series about his life.

Tyson took to his Twitter and posted, “Hulu stole my story. They’re Goliath and I’m David. Heads will roll for this.” You check out Tyson’s Twitter post below!

Tyson’s Twitter page and Instagram are littered with stories that seem to back up his claims that this documentary series is being made without his involvement or consent. The boxing champ released a statement to ET’s Philiana NG on Thursday after the series’ executive producer, Steven Rogers, said that Mike Tyson could not be involved in the project because of rights issues. Tyson quickly shot this down by saying, “[That’s] a flat out life. My life rights option expired years ago. Hulu nor any of their supercilious team ever tried to engage in any negotiations with this Black man. In their eye I’m still just a n****r on the auction block ready to be sold for their profit without any regard for my worth or my family.”

Tyson continued, saying, “They say this story is an exploration of a Black man. It’s more like an exploitation of a Black man. Hulu thinks their tracks are covered by hiring Black sacrificial lambs to play the part of as frontmen for their backdoor robbery is appalling. I will always remember this blatant disregard of my dignity.

Hulu first announced in June that the series entitled MIKE, would premiere on the platform on August 25, 2022. The series stars Trevante Rhodes as Mike Tyson, and according to Hulu, the eight-episode series “explores the tumultuous ups and downs of Tyson’s boxing career and personal life – from being a beloved global athlete to a pariah and back again.” Tyson has been pretty vocal against the series since it was first announced, and as its release draws closer, it looks like Tyson is doing everything in his power to let people know what Hulu has done.

In March 2021, a separate biopic entitled Tyson was being pitched to networks as a limited series. Jamie Foxx is attached to play the boxing champ, while Mike Tyson was to serve as an executive director for that project. It appears that endeavor is still being floated around, but not much news has come out about it recently.
