Chris Hemsworth feels that his next MCU appearance as Thor will probably be his last

While Avengers: Endgame saw several members of the original team departing the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Hemsworth wasn’t ready to hang up the hammer. The actor reprised his role in Thor: Love and Thunder, but while speaking with Vanity Fair, Chris Hemsworth isn’t sure if more Thor is in his future.

I don’t know,” Chris Hemsworth said. “I think there’d be more to say if the people want to hear me say it.” After being reminded that Thor: Love and Thunder did plant the seeds for a return, Hemsworth said that he’s “completely open” to returning if “there is something unique and fresh and unexpected to do with the character and the world. I’ve always loved the experience. I’ve been very thankful I’ve been able to do something different each time.” The actor added that if he does return once more, it will be to give the character a satisfying conclusion. “I feel like we’d probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I mean?” Hemsworth said. “I feel like it probably warrants that. I feel like it’d probably be the finale, but that’s not based on anything anyone’s told me or any sort of plans. You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don’t know—am I at that stage? Who knows?

The latest Thor sequel found the God of Thunder on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. His short-lived retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late. Thor: Love and Thunder is available on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD and is also streaming on Disney+.

Should Chris Hemsworth call it quits as Thor after one more appearance?
