A distinct smell emanates from Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty’s (Debra Jo Rupp) basement in Netflix‘s That ’90s Show teaser trailer, and it’s not teen spirit. Crank up Alice in Chains and Soundgarden because a new generation of stoners is ready to give their grandparents a migraine and bring the ’90s back like a VH1 Special tailored for Generation X.

Netflix picked up That ’90s Show straight-to-series back in late 2021. The show is set in 1995 and revolves around Leia Forman (Callie Haverda), the daughter of Eric and Donna, as she visits her grandparents for the summer and bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids. The new cast members for the 10-episode multicamera include Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronel, Maxwell Acee Donovan, Reyn Doi, and Sam Morelos.

In Netflix’s That ’90s Show teaser trailer, Leia and her rag-tag friends pay her grandparents (Red and Kitty Forman) a visit. While exploring the basement, a dance party breaks out, and the group presumably finds a stash of the sweet leaf. After getting high, Red and Kitty kick everyone out of the house, but not before serving them some munchies for the trip home.

According to reports, Topher Grace (Eric Forman), Mila Kunis (Jackie Burkhart), Ashton Kutcher (Michael Kelso), Laura Prepon (Donna Pinciotti), and Wilmer Valderrama (Fez) will return for the show. Danny Masterson (Hyde) is noticeably absent, but an effortless Google search will clue why he won’t be partying with the cool kids.

What do you think about Netflix’s That ’90s Show teaser trailer? Will Leia and her misfit friends be just as entertaining as Eric and the gang? What about the switch to the ’90s? Will the era of grunge rock and tattered flannel provide as many laughs as the experimental ’70s? Please feel free to let us know what you think in the comments.
